Lawrence J. Ellison
Larry Ellison co-founder and CEO of
Oracle was born August 17, 1944 in New York City. He was born to an unwed
mother who gave him to some relatives to raise. In 1977 he and programmers
Bob Miner and Ed Oates founded a software company. They named their first
product Oracle and sold it to various clients, including the CIA. Oracle
is the world’s leading supplier of software for information management
and the world’s second largest independent software company, boasting
revenues of more than $9.7 billion. The huge success of the company makes
Ellison one of the richest people in America. He is living proof that
business is not something learned through academic textbooks, but rather a
gift. As a college drop out ending up with a net worth of $50 billion,
Larry Ellison has reached the pinnacle of success.
Quote-"If the Internet turns out not to
be the future of computing, we’re toast. But if it does, we’re
golden."
