Frank Sobey is the grocery giant who changed
the face of grocery retailing. Starting with only a small family butcher
shop, and turning it into one of the largest food chains in the country.
In the small town on Stellarton, Sobey built
up Empire Theaters, and Lawton’s Drug Stores along with the successful
Sobey’s grocery stores. With help from the government, he build the
Industrial Estates Limited and was the president for 10 years. With all of
this hard work, we was rewarded with the Canadian Industrial Development
Award, and a honorary degree from Saint Mary’s University. Sobey
strongly believed the strength of any organization, is its people. He had
high integrity, commitment and dedication- The qualities of a successful
entrepreneur.
