Angel, Renee Zempel Chan. Oil
Painting, 42" x 50", 2003.From an exhibition at the SoHo Agora
Gallery, shown from 1/24/2004 to 2/14/2004
Chan uses what she refers to as "Narrative Gesture" to describe the
human body. The parts of her bodies morph together with landscape in a blend of
descriptive color and form.
"In the place of precise detail and anatomic correctness, Chan makes
poetry and turns the body into a veritable symphony of paint." From the
press release for the exhibition Ethereal Realms.
Each student in Art 501 was asked to search the
internet for a piece of artwork that they enjoyed, and share it here, on the
classes webpage.
The piece of art was to be new to them, and they were
to provide us with all the pertinent details about the art.
In this section of our website we are showcasing the
artwork we have found that interest and inspire us.
