Math 521A - Mrs. C. McQuaid

After seeing Donald Duck’s adventure in "Mathemagic Land" I hope that you realize how much of a role mathematics plays in our everyday lives. For this assignment I would like you to come up with your own mathematical adventure. There should be at least one main character. This character could be yourself, a know character like Donald Duck, or a character from your own imagination.

You must research mathematics and the role that it plays in some area of the real world. for example, music, art, astronomy, construction etc. The mathematical concepts should go beyond basic concepts such as adding, subtracting, area and perimeter. You must incorporate what you learn from this research into your adventure (ie involve your character with the concepts that you learn about).

Your adventure must be a minimum of 1 page, typed, single spaced (Times New Roman - 12 pt - if you want a different font, type it in this first and then format it and provide a copy of the original and the formatted version). You must make note of any source that you use for your research and you should have at least one source.

Draw a picture to accompany your adventure that shows your character and the mathematics that they are experiencing ( a collage would also be acceptable).
