**Notes to Parents/Guardians/Students**

S.I.S. Cell Phone Policy - As cell phones become more prominent in our schools, we need to clarify our restrictions on cell phone use and possession.  At S.I.S., students are allowed to carry cell phones for emergency purposes but during the school day, they are to be turned off and stored away in the student’s locker.  This includes classrooms and hallways throughout the entire day! If an emergency arises and a student needs to use his/her cell phone, permission to do so from a teacher is required.  Otherwise, the office phone is readily available.  If a student has his/her phone out during the school day, it will be taken and placed in the office awaiting a parent to pick up.

Winter Carnival -
S.I.S. will be hosting their Winter Carnival during the week of February 8-12.  During that week there will be many spirit building activities for the students including a pancake breakfast, cake decorating contest, cake auction, dance, and on Friday ... Blue and White Day.  More information will come in the following days!

A Change in How We Collect Homework Due to Absences: We are dis-continuing the homework sheet, (as it caused many disruptions in classes), which used to be passed around to teachers to collect homework from students who were absent.  In it's place, we are asking you to go to our website, click on " Staff Information" and you will find each of your child's teachers website's.  There, you will find homework listed...along with the teacher's e-mail address for you to contact if you have questions. In most cases the teacher will assist in catching the student up upon return.  Thank You!

When requesting a school bus passes, please include the address and civic number you are asking that the student be dropped off at if it is a location different from their normal drop off point. This would assist the school bus driver, especially a new or spare driver who may not be familiar with the route.

Breakfast Buddies -The doors open at 7:45 to the cafeteria all students are welcome to have a healthy snack! Breakfast Buddies is organized and run by our Parent Council and are always looking for volunteers...If you have a free morning once in a while, we would love your support.  Please call 888-8470.
*Note*

If school is delayed, Breakfast Buddies will be cancelled for that day.

Success Club -The Success Club is a lunch hour homework club where students may be assigned to complete overdue assignments or homework.  There are always 2 teachers on duty to assist students with their work and help them be successful.  Success Club begins Tues, Sept 22/09, and runs every (Tues-Thurs) at lunch!
