My expectations of my class are simple and straight forward. I expect every student to try their best and do their best work. To help my students succeed, we will learn and practice the following procedures for a smooth-running classroom.
After 8:30
After leaving your outdoor shoes outside the classroom, please enter the room quietly. Begin silent reading. This is an uninterrupted time of reading. At 8:50, turn in signed tests, notes from home, reports, etc to the front table. Give juice money, milk and food tokens to the students assigned to collect them. If you have tokens for younger siblings, give their tokens with yours to student assigned and take their milk/food to them at 12:10. Collect books and scribblers needed for the day from your shelf.
Student Agendas
Students are expected to use their agendas for the entire year. The agenda helps you learn time management skills, remember assignments and appointments such as practices, tryouts, doctor and dentist visits, birthdays, etc. Use your agenda in school and at home to get organized and manage your time.
Needing Teacher's Attention
I listen to students who stay in their seats and raise their hands.
Healthy Snacks/Lunches
Be sure to bring a water bottle. You may eat healthy snacks/lunches anytime after 9:00 while you are working (only in our classroom). Remember SKC is a peanut-free school. Microwave use is limited to 12:10 - 12:30. Students will eat their lunch at their desks. Please keep candy, chips, and chewing gum at home.
Leaving Classroom for French, Gym, etc.
Before leaving the classroom for French, Gym, etc., quietly make two lines inside the door, one for boys and one for girls. Please walk quietly in hallways.
Washroom Breaks
Washroom breaks may occur anytime during the school day.
When Students Are Absent
When students are absent, the class work is written out by the student assigned to that job, and is placed on those students' desks.
End of School Dismissal
Students are dismissed after desks and surrounding floor areas are cleaned and checked.
