2010 Olympic Torch Relay
|
Linda Clements, grade 7 teacher at SKC, holds the Olympic torch she carried during the historic torch relay for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Canada’s birthplace of Confederation welcomed the Olympic Flame on November 21, 2009 when the torch relay arrived on Prince Edward Island. The national 106-day event spent two days in the province, involved 250 torchbearers and visited 26 communities.
Torchbearers pounding the island’s famous red clay visited iconic Canadian landmarks such as the Confederation Bridge — marking the first time the torch relay travelled across Canada’s longest bridge.
