Spring Park Home and School

The Spring Park Home and School Association exists to help enrich the learning environment for our children and establish an effective and functioning communication system between students, parents, school administration, and teachers. The association is comprised of and supported by a dedicated group of parents many of whom volunteer their time to support activities that are coordinated and managed within the following organizational structure.

Executive

The Executive manages the overall affairs of the association, including financials, communications, programs, and special projects. The Spring Park Home and School Association meets with parents and school administration on a monthly basis. The Executive communicates on an on-going basis as the means for managing work and decisions, and meets on an ad hoc basis, subject to specific needs. Members include:

Nutrition Committee (Chairperson – Billy Dillon)

This committee provides a food program to the students of Spring Park School through the combined efforts of the Home and School Association, teachers, and school administration. The program provides students with the opportunity to purchase various food items for lunch, all in keeping with the Nutrition Policy developed by the Eastern School Board. 

Safe Arrival Program (Chairperson – Karen Ramsay)

This is an ongoing program whereby volunteers call parents of children who are absent or late to confirm their safety when the parents have not notified the school.

We are always appreciative of our volunteers. If you would like to help out with any of our programs or committees, please contact one of the executive members listed, until a chairperson is named to the volunteer committee. If you would like to fill this position, please contact us.  We also are involved in activities such as: sports days, barbecues, special school events and we coordinate various activities for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week (each February). 

General Meetings 

Our meetings will take place on the first Wednesday of each month. See specific dates below. Please watch the school newsletter for meeting notices. All parents and teachers are welcome to attend. If you have an issue or an idea you would like to discus, we hope you’ll attend our meetings. Or perhaps, you just want to find out what it’s all about.

We will have sign up table for volunteering for specific duties during parent-teacher interviews on October 25 and 26th.  

Fundraising Activities 

October 10 – 24, Christmas Card and Calendar fundraiser. Order your Christmas Cards and 2008 calendars and help support improvements to the library. Students will learn the details of the campaign on October 9th.  

The magazine subscription fundraiser that was done last spring was a huge success and it will run again this spring. Anyone who purchased a subscription last year can purchase their renewal through us this year.
