Chess Club It is great to see so many Grade 1 students coming out to the Chess Club. I am certainly impressed by their enthusiasm to learn this great game. All Chess Club members are invited to participate in the annual Provincial Chess Challenge to be held on Saturday March 11, 2006. This tournament gives players the opportunity to play students across the Island who are in their own grade level. Playing in the challenge gives students much needed tournament experience and a chance to improve their ratings. If your child has played in a tournament you may view their rating at www.chess-math.org. A player’s rating is an indicator of their personal gauge as to how they are playing. Registration forms for the Provincial Chess Challenge are available at any time at the Chess Club. All players are also invited to play at the University of PEI Chess Club under the guidance of Fred McKim. UPEI Chess Club is each Tuesday evening at Dalton Hall at 6:30 p.m. All age levels and playing abilities are welcome to attend these free lessons to help improve their knowledge of the game. Mr. McKim can be reached at: 368-0092 (w) or 368-0411 (h).
