Home and School

The St.Louis Home and School is a group of volunteers made up of individuals working on behalf of all children at St.Louis Elementary School.  Our Home and School is an active part of our school with its dedicated members, executive and involved parents.  We are very fortunate to have such a hard working and supportive Home and School.

The St.Louis Home and School, along with all the other Home and School organizations across the province, is an affiliate of the P.E.I. Home and School Federation, Inc.  Each parent of a school age child is a member of the P.E.I. Home and School Federation through their individual Home and School.  The P.E.I. Home and School Federation, Inc. has recently raised very important issues with the government, some of which include bus safety, class size, drug and health education and curriculum content.  The P.E.I. Home and School Federation, Inc.  have 5000 members- the largest number of volunteers in an organization in P.E.I. per capita!  Their slogan remains:

When one person speaks alone,
its an opinion.
When 10 of us speak together,
its a concern.
When 50 of us speak together,
it is a strong suggestion.
When 200 of us speak together,
it is a movement.
But when 500 families and 100 group affiliates speak together,
its a victory for children.

As you can see, the more members the Home and School has, the stronger the voice it has.  Why not step up and make a difference in your child's education by getting involved?

The St.Louis Home and School meet once every second month to discuss a variety of topics pertaining to the quality education for each child and generally to the total well-being of children in our school.  Our Home and School is constantly looking for ideas, assistance with fundraising and parental support.  Most recently, monies collected from fundraising events has supplied the school with such items as books for updating the library; games for the games room; educational games for the classrooms; helping with funding a new asphalt pad for the playground; assisting in providing a snack cupboard for students; providing assistance and funding for a new classroom auditory system; providing the funding for the D.A.R.E. program for the grade 6 students; funding the Teacher Appreciation Week; and many, many more.

We are working hard for the best for your children! We could not have done any of these wonderful things without all of the parental support that we receive - thank you !

For anyone who is interested in being a part of this great support system, please telephone our school, attend the next meeting or simply volunteer your help when called upon.  Wouldn't you like to come and see what you can do to help in your child's education?  Your input is always welcome!  Your concerns and suggestions are always important!
