Chemical  Compounds of Life

Organisms, no matter how complex are made up of both organic and inorganic molecules.  There are 4 major types of organic molecules to consider: carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins.  Enzymes are a special type of protein which are designed to catalyze the chemical reactions which create life.  Further details are presented in the slide shows below.  Other sources of information can be found in the links provided.  Lab exercises are also given.  Be sure to test your learning in the interactive quiz.
