Grade 11 Biology Chapter 5
The Cell

Cells

Cells are the basic unit of life.  There are two basic cell types based on certain cytological features.  There are numerous parts of the cell designed to carry out specific functions.  One of the major features of a cell is its ability to maintain homeostasis.  This is achieved by passive and active transport.  Organisms may have their cells arranged in one of three different ways: unicellular, colonial, and multicellular.  Further details are presented in the slide shows below.  Other sources of information can be found in the links provided.  Lab exercises are also given.  Be sure to test your learning in the interactive quiz.
