Gas Exchange

Organisms which perform aerobic cellular respiration require oxygen and produce carbon dioxide.  As organisms increase in complexity, so does their method of gas exchange.  Human gas exchange is very complex with numerous structures and stages.  Further details are presented in the slide shows below.  Other sources of information can be found in the links provided.  Lab exercises are also given.  Be sure to test your learning in the interactive quiz.
