Classification of Living Things

Life on this planet is immensely diverse.  However, every species from the past or present has been given a scientific name and has been classified.  Taxonomy is the science of classifying organisms into groups of similarity.  The system currently used has seven levels organized from most inclusive to most specific.  Further details are presented in the slide shows below.  Other sources of information can be found in the links provided.  Lab exercises are also given.  Be sure to test your learning in the interactive quiz.
