Buote House

Glibert Buote and his son François, co-publishers of L'Impartial, the first French-language newspaper on P.E.I. (circa 1893-1915) built the central section of this house in 1889. François' daughter, Alma, an artist and New York fashion designer, retired here in 1958. She bequeathed the house to the Tignish Co-op Assn. to be used for a doctor's office and residence. When the Tignish Co-op Health Centre was built in 1974, the house was put up for sale. Eugene and Anne Marie Perry purchased it in 1976. Mrs. Perry presently resides here with her daughter, Antoinette.
