HOME & SCHOOL 2007/2008
Why belong to Home & School?
*Because…no group can influence public opinion and public school officials as successfully as an enthusiastic, interested group of parents and teachers.
*Because…full and free discussion of general school activities or concerns often solves difficulties without friction and helps to prevent them.
*Because…it is the best way for helping build a spirit of confidence, co-operation and goodwill among our children and families.
Home & School Meeting
Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007
7 PM Vernon River Consolidated School Library
The minutes from our last meeting will be distributed prior to the meeting.
If you have any agenda items please forward them to Margaret Wilton (Co-President mwilton@japei.org or 651-2373) or Janice Prosper (Co-Treasurer at janprosper@pei.sympatico.ca or 651-2229) or Tanya Ryan (Co-Secretary at 651-2282).
As we sadly bid farewell to Christine Cotton (Co-president), Cathy Shaw (Co-Secretary) and Tracy Lea (Co-Treasurer) we want to take this opportunity to thank them for their outstanding service and dedication to our school and children. Elections for these will be held for their positions at the October meeting.
Here is a brief overview of what each position entails:
With two people holding each position it allows for the first year to be a learning year for the new Co-position and also helps with consistency and succession. Meetings will be held every two months with a brief executive meeting prior to each bi-monthly meeting.
Co-President:
Helps to chair and conduct meetings, ensures financial records are kept up, oversees information sent by home and school federation and works as a team member to ensure a successful year and keep a positive attitude.
Co-Secretary:
Is the right hand to the Co-Presidents and keeps a record of minutes at all meetings and records motions. They also send out a copy of minutes prior to meetings.
Co-Treasurer:
Is the custodian of the funds and takes care of bank statements, keeps accurate, official records and receipts and submits a report at each meeting.
