Magazine Campaign:
The magazine campaign ends today;
however, magazines can be purchased online all year long. Click on the QSP
link on the school’s webpage. Thank you to everyone who purchased
magazine subscriptions.
Literacy Club:
The literacy club is held every day
from 8:20 to 8:50 a.m. for students in kindergarten to grade 9.
Homework Club:
The homework club is held on Tuesdays from 2:45 to 4:00 p.m. for students in kindergarten to grade 9.
K - 3 Morning Sports:
K - 3 morning sports is held on
Wednesdays from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m.
Cross Country Running:
Practice is held on Wednesdays from
2:45 to 3:30 p.m. for students in grades 4 to 9.
Girls Basketball:
Girls basketball will be held on
Mondays from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., beginning October 3rd for any
interested girls in grades 6 to 9.
Terry Fox Fun:
The school’s Terry Fox run will be
held on Friday, September 30th. Buses will depart the school at
12:25 p.m. All students will walk/run from Robbins’ Road to Glencoe Road
(students will turn around after thirty minutes on the trail). Students
will return to the school at 1:40 p.m.
Students are asked to donate $1.00
each, which will go to the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research.
Ice Cream:
Ice cream is sold each Friday by the grade 9 class, as a fundraiser for their end of year activities. Cost is $1.00.
Student of the Month Assembly:
Student of the month assembly for
September will be held on Friday, September 30th at 2:15 p.m.

Literacy Bits:
Parents as Partners in Reading - Reading
can be a family affair. When you read, you help create an
environment that encourages reading in your home. Children imitate and
usually want to copy the accomplishments and activities of adults. Here
are some suggestions on how to encourage literacy. Happy reading!
☛ Call attention to colours,
shapes and situations in books and relate them to your child’s experiences.
☛Give your child time to talk to
you. Listen to your child.
CBC Open House:
You are invited to celebrate 75 years
of CBC/Radio-Canada at an Open House on Saturday, October 1st from
11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 430 University Avenue in Charlottetown.
Meet the staff and tour the facilities.
Meet "Dash" from Turbo Dogs, and participate in the kids activities -
including a hockey shootout, the Artzooka art table and face painting.
Come enjoy musical entertainment, barbeque and a birthday cake!

Do you want to be part of an
international organization that will help you to make a meaningful and rewarding
difference within your local community? The Canadian Red Cross
office in Charlottetown is now recruiting volunteers for their various programs:
