Extracurricular activities will occur throughout the year.
Extracurricular activities provide additional opportunities for students to develop in areas beyond the classroom. Some of the areas that we attempt to provide additional opportunities in are athletics, music, history and science, drama, and technology. Depending on the nature of the activity, it will be open to selected students at selected grade levels only.
One permission form signed at the beginning of the year will cover most after school activities. Special forms will be sent for activities not included under this form (usually those activities that may be considered to be more of a high risk activity). These are required to be returned before the student may participate.
If your child is a member of a school team, parents are asked to arrange transportation to and from these events, before the day of the event. It is the policy of the School Board that any student traveling with someone, other than their parent, (as part of these activities) must do so with someone who has at least $1Million liability insurance and the school must have a copy of that insurance plan on file. It is also required by the school that you send permission for your child to travel with another person to and from this event.
Students are NOT permitted to stay after school unless participating in an activity under the direction of a teacher or designate. This includes such things as students staying to wait for a sibling who is involved in a band rehearsal, or students planning to wait for a basketball game to watch. We cannot provide supervision for these children.
