Principal's Message
Welcome students, parents, and members of the global community to Westwood Primary School’s web site. Please take the time to look more closely at our pages to find out about the many educational activities that make Westwood such a special and vibrant place.
Westwood Primary is one of only two primary schools in Prince Edward Island. It houses approximately 580 students from kindergarten to grade three. As a dual track school, we offer programs in both English and Early French Immersion. Our teachers and staff set high expectations for our students and in addition to our core curricular areas, we offer physical education, music, and library programs. Our students have the opportunity to participate in choir, intramurals, leadership activities, and after-school seasonal sporting activities.
Education is a joint venture between school and home and we work with our young students to help them learn about the world around them through the prescribed curriculum and the daily social interactions that they are a part of. We very much appreciate the support that parents give their children at home as they strive to reach these academic and social learning goals. We are committed to providing our students with a safe and caring environment at school and, as such, we model, teach, discuss, and expect appropriate conduct to achieve this.
At Westwood, we value the daily contributions of community and parent volunteers who assist with such things as our Breakfast for Learning program, reading, and library programs as well as special class activities and field trips. Thank you -- your assistance is much appreciated! We encourage you to become a part of our Home & School. We feel fortunate to have dedicated parents who support our school and all of our activities through this group.
